Hey Everyone,
Sorry that Fiona and I have been absent from most of the meetings and blog updates. We're in an intense rehearsal process with an international Choreographer who's trying to put on a show at the end of this month, so it's been crazy busy with long hours. But we have been discussing our plans...
Firstly we would like to film next week (using Friday's class to start, and then have it over the weekend) so who has the cameras right now and is able to pass it onto us? If you could get back to me via e-mail (akeeble@ugrad.unimelb.edu.au) or on the contact number provided on the spreadsheet, that'll be greatly appreciated.
We would like to explore colours in an environmental setting, trying to find a location that is either manufactured or organic in nature that has contrasting tones and qualities. Some ideas are that we look into spaces like the botanical gardens and manipulate the space with objects (e.g. balloons or paper), or alley ways that have graffiti and try to give it a different look by adding other elements to change the perspective. Kinda hard to explain... our inspiration is from the show "Pushing Daisies", check out a little intro of the show and notice the colours:

Another idea is that we have sheets of paper in different bright colours and get people to write on them...not sure what they will write, maybe stories, quotes, pictures etc...and then have them trail along a path in some type of dull setting to give contrast.
Maybe we'll mix the two.
Anyways, if anyone would like to add to these ideas for further inspiration that would be great. Those who have the cameras and aren't using them, could they get back to us ASAP? Thanks. We'll grab it next friday during the presentations.
I hope you all had a good weekend.
Take care,
Tony and Fiona

Hi guys, at the moment the following people have cameras:
ReplyDeleteHeidi, Renuka and Renee and myself, and then Daniel also recently bought one he may be willing to lend.
I did my first film last weekend, just some very still portraits of an old house and garden down in Queenscliff (inspired by Tacita Dean.) I have no idea how it's turned out- so fingers crossed! I am thinking of it as a test and will do another more exciting film shortly.
People have been dropping the cameras off to my studio as a central point, swing by on Friday and pick one up...
